In the FAQ it says: 'DSpace does bit-level preservation so that
“digital archaeologists” of the future will have the raw material to
work with'. This appears to indicate that Dspace does no processing of
the files i.e. they are not ingested, converted or other wise futzed
with. Is this correct? Are they left in place on the storage and just
scanned for metadata? --
