Well, I've fixed the issues, thanks to help I received from here, StackOverflow, and Web4Lib. (THANKS SO MUCH, everyone!)
Problem 1: I was making changes in the wrong place. Problem 2: I was running the mvn package in the wrong place (thanks helix84 for helping with this). Problem 3: I wasn’t reloading the website in Tomcat. Problem 4: The site had been configured with an extra slash in the base URL. Problem 5: I’d formatted the date fields incorrectly.
