Similar features are also part of the DSpace-CRIS addon since some years.
You can take a look for example at the euroCRIS repository:
- statistics about researcher profile visualization
http://dspacecris.eurocris.org/cris/stats/rp.html?id=0df3d37b-a9e8-4ce8-97bc-51c1161cfcec
- top items for researcher
http://dspacecris.eurocris.org/cris/stats/rp.html?id=0df3d37b-a9e8-4ce8-97bc-51c1161cfcec&type=dspaceitems&mode=view
- top download for researcher
http://dspacecris.eurocris.org/cris/stats/rp.html?id=0df3d37b-a9e8-4ce8-97bc-51c1161cfcec&type=dspaceitems&mode=download
The code is extremely flexible and is able to aggregate statistics for
any aspects. Out-of-box you get statistcs aggregated by community,
collection, authors, organization (if linked to authors).
The DSpace-CRIS documentation can be found here:
http://cineca.github.io/dspace-cris/doc/technical-documentation.pdf
(p.30 and next are related to the statistics configuration).
source code is publicly available and release with the same license of
DSpace (BSD)
https://github.com/Cineca/DSpace/tree/dspace-5_x_x-cris
It is not up-to-date to the latest release so it doesn't cover all the
functionalities but it is still valid.

It's not part of DSpace. It was most likely added to World Bank's
DSpace by @mire, so contact them if you want the same exact
thing.
If you want to try developing it yourself, the data comes from
the
Solr statistics core. Here's how you can access it:
