Items exist in the database, but the individual files which make up an
item do not; they are files with seemingly random names below the
[DSpace]/assetstore directory.  If you did not copy those over, then
you will be able to see Communities, Collections and Items but not
fetch the documents that an Item should contain.  The database
contains only the names of those files.
