Hi Both, thanks for your comments and suggestions. Tim - Yes it possibly is something to do with the proprietary connection tool between Symplectic and Dspace. It seems to me that Symplectic is 'pushing' content to Dspace, rather than making it visible for harvesting. I suspect that I may need to ask Symplectic for a customisation. However it may be easiest to look at another solution for the problem.
Monika - I am familiar with Andrea's work, and presentation. As a DSpace committer I suspect she is much more comfortable messing with Dspace source code than my development team are. But yes, the integration between the two systems is far from perfect.
