I've discovered something funky about the testing server I use. It seems that any changes made to it take several days to really take hold. (It may be a firewall issue of some odd sort)
So, the white screen issue-here's the work around and things seem to be working better. I added a /home to the end of the extension. While I got an error, the page appeared and all started to work well. Go figure. We're going to be doing some bigger testing and attempt to migrated to version 5 within the next 4 months. I'm planning to move testing to an AIX server (WPAR) because our production is on an AIX server. Thanks for the assistance. At least I know my self-generated SSL is working correctly-and that's one of my biggest fears I have right now. -Jeff Jeffrey Trimble, MLS William F. That memory leak was one reported on lists back in 2010: http://dspace.2283337.n4.nabble.com/Dspace-tech-tomcat-reporting-memory-leak-td3287524.html It was then worked on heavily after those community reports: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg12161.html And resolved in DSpace 1.7 which featured massive performance/scalability improvements (at least for their time): https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC17/Preface That all being said, I'm not sure that exact performance error would be causing a blank screen. But, I guess it's possible. It probably is worth considering whether it's possible to upgrade your DSpace site. DSpace 1.6 is unsupported these days, but it is possible to directly migrate your 1.6 data into a 5.x installation via the normal Upgrade process (which now migrates data automatically): https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/Upgrading+DSpace It is also worth noting that DSpace 1.6 was released on Java 5 and Tomcat 4. While it's possible it may work on modern versions of Java and Tomcat, it's never been tested as such. But, maybe others on this list are running DSpace 1.6 on Java 6 and Tomcat 7 (and can speak up about their setup)? Not sure if any of this helps, but it's hard to tell what the core issue may be here. Perhaps someone else running DSpace 1.6 may have tips to provide. Whether or not SSL is turned on, when I attempt to connect to the XMLUI version, I receive a blank (white) screen with nothing on it. The JSPUI screen is fine. This is concerning to me since I want to move forward with our projects. I've look at the Catalina logs and here's what I have found: INFO: Reloading Context with name [/xmlui] is completed Jun 22, 2016 9:02:41 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoaderBase clearReferencesThreads SEVERE: The web application [/xmlui] appears to have started a thread named [FinalizableReferenceQueue] but has failed to stop it.
