(Apologies if this comes through twice - tried to send last night but haven't seen it appear yet.)
We’ve just upgraded from v3.1 to v5.5 (both XMLUI, no change of theme). We ran a SOLR indexing job after the upgrade but haven’t yet turned on cronjobs. We’ve got a collection where access to both the collection and all the items in it is restricted to a small group of admin staff only. We’ve added the code from https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/Hide+Community+or+Collection+from+list to stop the collection name appearing in the collection list. So when logged out, everything’s hidden, which is great. When our admin staff log in the following works correctly: * They see the correct item count showing in the collection list * Browse-by works correctly But the following are no longer working in this collection: * Display of ‘recently added’ items * Search within collection I have a feeling something else is going on more broadly with search and permissions (searching on a common term like ‘effects’ appears to return *almost but not quite* the same results regardless of whether you’re logged in or not, eg 4904 vs 4901) but I’m not sure if trying to explain this will illuminate or just further confuse, and certainly it does my head in. Does anyone know what might be going on here, or be able to explain how SOLR indexing / permissions are meant to interact and if there were any changes in this between v3 and v5? The ‘recently added’ listing is especially vital to us because when admin staff approve an item that’s submitted to this collection they then need to double-check permissions and/or move it into another collection. But when you approve an item it doesn’t tell you what the handle or even item ID is, or take you to the approved item, so almost the only way left for staff to find the item again was to check ‘recently added’ – or search for it.
