We've managed to find a solution by changing the ConfigurableBrowse file,
adding the following at 481 (after a-z browse links are created):
String chars = "Æ,Ø,Å";
java.util.List<String> specialChars = new ArrayList<String>(Arrays.asList(
chars.split(",")));
for (String specialChar: specialChars)
{
letterQuery.put(BrowseParams.STARTS_WITH, specialChar);
jumpList.addItemXref(super.generateURL(BROWSE_URL_BASE, letterQuery),
specialChar);
}
The example is for Norwegian chars but any others could be substituted. The
ultimate goal would be to use a translation string which could be set via
messages.xml files so that we could add to browse lists for particular
languages. However I haven't been able to split the chars var because I
can't seem to get the String value of the translated message from the
Message object, so if anyone knows how to do it this would be the final
piece of the puzzle.
Thanks
Hayden
