Hi Rosarie, can you provide more information. Which version of DSpace with which UI and which browse mechanism (solr default since 4.0 or database driven) are you using. Can you link to an example on your page. Are you using authority control on author fields there has been issues like https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-2785?

When one simply selects the 'edit' item -> 'edit metadata' item for say, any item it appears to re-assign it as a separate author entry in the browse 'by author' index.
