Hi Alan, it is a real reusable work so if you decide to do that yourself please contribute back to the community. If you are satisfied by the current autocomplete or lookup (extra window) capability of DSpace (available in both the JSPUI than the XMLUI) it is not an extensive work. I guess that it can be coded in just few days.
