thanks for your quick reply. Unfortunately, the CheckIndex did not find any 
error in the index, not in statistics, not in search. Nevertheless, logs 
keep reporting errors both for search and statistics. We now also run into 
problems because the browse indexes no longer are up to date. For example 
author names being shown in the browse index, result in a No index error 
message when clicking the name. Similarly for items.

Is it safe to complete delete the solr/search directory and have generate 
all indexes again?
I guess that for statistics this is not an option. Should I try to export 
statistics and import statistics?
