At the very least, you should check your logs (both for DSpace and Tomcat) for any errors reported there. It's not normal for DSpace to behave slowly. It'd also be worth understanding whether the entire application is acting slow, or just specific pages. If the entire application is acting slow, it's possible you need to increase the memory available to DSpace, see: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC6x/Performance+Tuning+DSpace After following that guide and searching for solutions, if you are still stuck, feel free to send the error messages to this list and we'll do our best to help out.
