Dear all, mine is an Advice request on how to proceed with an old DSPACE installation:
I am the "Lucky" heir of two DSPACE installs, My institute changed Name, but myssion remained pretty similar, so we now have a very old dspace with a lot of documents and authors and a new Dspace with few documents and few authors, communities have authors/users in common, *both openarchive don't have handle prefix installed yet 2 different domain names. * as sysadmin I feel the duty to upgrade and optimize the Open archive, and possibly to integrate all Items in a single one installation. The oldest one is Dspace 1.8 and I am willing to close it, but all the documents have a lot of backlinks 123456789/1 ecc about 1500 Documents/articles about 800 authors/users. The newest one is DSPACE 6.2 and I am about to complete upgrade to latest. I also Bought the handle prefix and I am about to install it and reindex. How to proceed then, export all the content of old DSPACE 1.8 COMMUNITY etc and reimport in new DSPACE 6.x and then install the real handle prefix ? What happens with both installs having 12345678/ as handle when you import one in to another ? At some point I should also redirect 301 all the old handles with the new correctly prefixed ones. Which is the correct approach in these case? If ever happened something similar?
