If you go to https://repository.wpunj.edu/oai?verb=Identify and look at the
default context options you can get a bit further forward seeing what works and
what doesn’t.

It’s happily bringing up the list of sets, and the list of metadata formats
(including oai_dc) but not the list of records or identifiers which your vendor
needs to harvest your records.

I suspect you’ve never actually built your OAI index – see
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/OAI+2.0+Server about how to run OAI
Manager (and how to run it as a scheduled task).

[Note, if you have any personal information in your system that you don’t want
harvested, you might want to first:

a) check that /dspace/config/crosswalks/oai/metadataFormats/oai_dc.xsl
only includes the data you do want harvested; and

b) comment out any contexts and formats in
/dspace/config/crosswalks/oai/xoai.xml that you’re not using ]

Subject: [dspace-tech] OAI harvestable URLs question

Folks,

I am at a loss as to how to answer my vendor's question. Below is the message
from my vendor. Any assistance is appreciated.

/Ray

"Provide the OAI URL of the repository:
https://repository.wpunj.edu/oai<https://repository.wpunj.edu/oai>
Provide the URL of an item level record:
https://repository.wpunj.edu/handle/20.500.12164/896?mode=full<https://repository.wpunj.edu/handle/20.500.12164/896?mode=full>

Unfortunately, the first link doesn't give an OAI harvestable record set. I've
tried some variations to look at records, but they are timing out when I try to
get the OAI feed.

Example:
http://repository.wpunj.edu:8080/oai/request?verb=ListRecords&metadataPrefix=oai_dc<http://repository.wpunj.edu:8080/oai/request?verb=ListRecords&metadataPrefix=oai_dc>

And while the item level record URL does show me a formatted display screen
with DC field labels, it isn't a DC OAI XML formatted record. I tied cobbling
together the example below but I couldn't get to an XML display result.

Example:
https://repository.wpunj.edu/handle/20.500.12164/896?mode=full<https://repository.wpunj.edu/handle/20.500.12164/896?mode=full>

Should be something like:
http://repository.wpunj.edu/oai/request?verb=GetRecord&metadataPrefix=oai_dc&identifier=oai:repository.wpunj.edu:20.500.12164/896<http://repository.wpunj.edu/oai/request?verb=GetRecord&metadataPrefix=oai_dc&identifier=oai:repository.wpunj.edu:20.500.12164/896>

Can you please check into this and obtain OAI harvestable URL's? "
