Is it possible to change browsing authors behavior?

In the DSpace, that I recently installed, browsing authors behaves like a
"filter" showing only N authors from the total list and blank page with "no
resource". But browsing titles behaves like a "go to position in list" to a
page with the specified letter..

Different indexes have different behavior, so somewhere it is configured?

I need to make the browsing authors behavior the same as browsing titles,
but i don't know where t look =(
In the .cfg/xml files? In some .jsp file where is the request to solr
formed? In the solr itself?

I could not find this in the documentation, and attempts to change the
configuration so that the authors index looks similar to the titles
invariably lead to an internal error =/

webui.browse.index.1 = dateissued:item:dateissued
webui.browse.index.2 =
author:metadata:dc.contributor.author\,dc.creator:text
webui.browse.index.3 = title:item:title
webui.browse.index.4 = subject:metadata:dc.subject.*:text
