Never mind.  I found a way to implement Basic Auth in the Apache Virtual Server.

Luckily, we have 2 domain names registered for our site.
I use one domain name for the Virtual Front End and the other domain name for the Virtual Back End. That way I can require Basic Auth for the Front End but not require it for the Back End. I was unsuccessful implementing Basic Auth when I was proxying both the Front End and the Back End
from the same Virtual Server.

While our DSpace 7 site is under development, we would like to restrict access to the site, to logged-in DSpace Administrators. Is there a relatively easy way to do with by temporarily modifying the Front End?
Eg. making Login an initial (guard) page.

I've been unsuccessful in attempting to implement Basic Auth in the Apache Virtual Server.

Thanks for any suggestions.
