Hi David,

When deciding between v6 and v7, the first thing you likely need to be aware of
is that 7.0 does NOT (yet) have all the same features as 6.x.

That means there are many 6.x features that are still being ported to 7.x
(little by little over several 7.x releases). Here's the list of prioritized
features still coming to 7.x:
https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+Release+7.0+Status#DSpaceRelease7.0Status-Whatfeaturesarecominginalater7.xrelease?7.x

So, if any of the features listed in the prioritized list are "show stoppers"
for your institution, then you may want to either wait for those features to
appear in 7.x, or upgrade now to 6.x & jump to 7.x a little later.

That said, there are 7.0 sites already out there (and a 7.1 release with bug
fixes and a few more features is likely in a month or so). It's just a matter
of whether 7.x currently meets your local requirements or not.

Tim

13 updates in 6 topics

Our IT department just asked me which version of DSpace, 6 or 7, I think we
should update to.What is the general thought? Is 7 stable and bug-free enough?
IT probably won't revisit this for quite some time. So, any patches and fixes
may wait for quite some time.

We are at https://repository.hou.usra.edu/

Hi,

Unfortunately, I don't think this is a question we can help answer. The IP of
your DSpace site depends on the IP of your server. DSpace doesn't control the
IP at all, rather the IP address is

Hi,

What port you want to open depends on how you want to run the User Interface.
If you are running a non-Production instance, using "yarn start" is OK, and

It does not matter if Apache sits in front of Tomcat. That was a red

passing on to Tomcat, keeping ports open.
