Hi Massimiliano, A 500 error generally means that either the frontend *cannot find* the backend, or something has gone wrong on the backend that has caused it to return an invalid response to the frontend.
The only way to determine the cause is by following our troubleshooting guide, which you should follow for any error you see: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Troubleshoot+an+error#Troubleshootanerror-DSpace7.x(orabove) We also have many "Common Installation Issues" documented in our Install Guide (at the bottom). There are even suggestions there for this common 500 error: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/Installing+DSpace#InstallingDSpace-%22500ServiceUnavailable%22fromtheUserInterface I'd recommend using those guides to debug your issue. It's likely a configuration problem between the frontend & backend, as it sounds like they are not able to communicate properly.
