Hi, I'm not sure what could be going wrong in this scenario as there should be nothing necessary to configure if you are using standard options. I suspect that there must be an error occurring either in the User Interface or backend, so I'd recommend using the Troubleshooting Guide to look for errors (as I previously suggested): https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Troubleshoot+an+error#Troubleshootanerror-DSpace7.x(orabove)
You are also welcome to test the behavior on our Demo site (https://demo.dspace.org/) which is also running the standard code. That should allow you to compare the behavior there versus the behavior in your local installation. Perhaps seeing the differences could provide more clues.
