Hi Tom, Rather than working from an old backup, I'd recommend following the steps in our migration guide if you are migrating data from an older version of DSpace into either DSpace 7 or 8:

There are a number of others who have commented on that guide saying that is was a useful resource for how to do this migration smoothly.
