Hi,

We'd like to hear from anyone who has worked with DSpace 7 (or 8)
configurable entities for image, archival, or other rich content
collections. We have in mind questions around using entities for images,
digital objects associated with finding aids, audio, video, 3D models, and
so forth. What have you learned working with entities beyond the more
'standard' starting points of publications, journals, organizations, etc.?
Are there any suggestions around best or recommended practices, what
metadata schema were used, data models you might be able share, etc. Our
likely path is a migration from an existing DSpace 6.4 instance with over
170k images, among other content, including digital objects related to
finding aids in our ArchivesSpace system. We're not starting from scratch
but there's a lot we can learn.

I'm familiar with some of the DSpace-GLAM presentations (4Science), which
provide a high-level overview of extending entities into the cultural
heritage realm (e.g. events, place, concept, etc.), this is helpful but
we're also looking for more specific information.

We have a DSpace 6 IR with Open Access articles, theses, and other research
and teaching content (https://dspace.mit.edu) which we plan to upgrade and
use entities for journals, persons, organizations, etc. However, we also
want to look at how entities can support rich content collections across a
wide range of disciplines, cultural heritage as well as STEM.

We're excited about the new features DSpace 7/8 brings to the table and if
you're using entities in any of these ways we'd love to hear from you.

Thanks,

Carl
