Would dcterms.references serve as well? > A couple of questions: > (1) Are the options for the dropdown menu being pulled from an external > source, like a standards document? > (2) If the options aren't being pulled from an external source, where can > they be defined in DSpace, and was there a reason dc.relation.references > wasn't added to the list of options? They are fetched from the database. The database is loaded, at installation time, or manually later, from files in [DSpace]/config/registries. You'll find each of the stock namespaces defined in separate files there. Many of the namespaces have been derived from standards documents (but some may be outdated). A few are specific to DSpace for its internal use -- these have URIs pointing to 'dspace.org'. 'local-types.xml' is for your use in defining, for your institution, in the 'local' namespace, private types not expected to be understood elsewhere even by DSpace. The schema names and URIs are in the 'metadataschemaregistry' table. The field names are in the 'metadatafieldregistry' table. It's unclear to me whether there *is* a 'dc.relation.references'. All I've found is this: https://www.dublincore.org/specifications/dublin-core/dcmi-terms/terms/references/ But I'm a programmer, not a librarian, so perhaps I've misunderstood the standard. -- Mark H.
