Dear DSpace Community,

I’m currently setting up a new instance of *DSpace-CRIS 8* and have
successfully completed the following:

   -

   Installed backend and Angular frontend
   (dspace-angular-dspace-cris-2024.02.01)
   -

   Imported the official cris-layout-configuration.xls using
   cris-layout-tool
   -

   Rebuilt and deployed the frontend
   -

Verified that Person layout tabs (Profile, Publications, Projects, etc.)
   are configured properly

However, when I navigate to:
/explore/persons

…the UI always displays:

*People: 0*

Even though I have uploaded researcher profiles, I cannot see any Person
entities listed in the People section.

I verified the following:

   -

The items are archived and have titles
   -

   The layout is imported successfully
   -

Solr has been reindexed using index-discovery -b
   -

Person profiles are visible individually if I know their handle

Upon further investigation, I found that the missing metadata cris.entity.type
= Person was the reason they’re not being picked up by the /explore/persons
list.
Request:

Is there a recommended way to ensure all researcher items are correctly
identified as Person entities? Is this something that needs to be
explicitly set at the time of import or submission?

Any help or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
