As you probably know, DSpace and DSpace-CRIS have been exploring the possibility of merging the two platforms. This work has been guided by two Planning Groups: the Strategy Planning Group<https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Strategy+Planning+Group> and the Technology Planning Group<https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Technology+Planning+Group>. On August 12, 2025, DSpace Governance Chair Maureen Walsh shared an update with the community<https://groups.google.com/g/dspace-community/c/EnwBLm_Ut0I/m/C4wFEoCFBAAJ>. At this time, no decision has been made about whether a merger will take place. Naturally, many of you may be asking: When can we expect a decision? If a merger does occur, what is the expected timeline for a merged DSpace? And what impact might this have on my repository?
