Dear DSpace Community, As you probably know, DSpace and DSpace-CRIS have been exploring the possibility of merging the two platforms. This work has been guided by two Planning Groups: the *Strategy Planning Group <https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Strategy+Planning+Group>* and the *Technology Planning Group <https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Technology+Planning+Group>*. On August 12, 2025, DSpace Governance Chair Maureen Walsh shared an *update with the community <https://groups.google.com/g/dspace-community/c/EnwBLm_Ut0I/m/C4wFEoCFBAAJ>*. At this time, no decision has been made about whether a merger will take place. Naturally, many of you may be asking: *When can we expect a decision? If a merger does occur, what is the expected timeline for a merged DSpace?
