You don't have to do two upgrades to go from v7 to v9, but you do have to carry out all of the steps of both upgrades. You should read the upgrade instructions for v8 and v9. Some steps, such as database migration, will be common to both upgrades, and need only be done once. But, for example, there are usually a few changes to the configuration files that you should consider, and apply if needed. You should make the necessary changes from v8 as well as those from v9. You should also check the instructions for v7 to make certain that there is nothing to be done to upgrade from 7.5 to 7.6. I see that there is a change to the Solr 'search' core's schema that should be addressed. There may be more. In short: read all of the upgrade instructions for your starting version through your ending version, inclusive, and merge them. -- Mark H.
