If you are still struggling with this error, I'd recommend following our 
Troubleshooting 
Guide <https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Troubleshoot+an+error> to 
see if there's any underlying errors in your browser or backend logs that 
are visible.  It's important to find the errors behind that "Invalid email 
address or password" message in the user interface, as the underlying 
errors will provide clues as to why it's failing.

Since it sounds like you might have a newer installation, it's possible 
you'll find that you are hitting one of the errors in our "Common 
Installation Issues" 
<https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC9x/Installing+DSpace#InstallingDSpace-CommonInstallationIssues>
 
(at the bottom of the installation guide).
