After much ado, I was able to get a clean build with "ant", but here's what I had to do: Even though I'm upgrading from 1.3.2 to 1.4, I had to download the source for dspace-1.4.1 and copy its dspace-1.4.1-source/lib file to dspace-1 4-source/lib. Then when I tried to run the build, the only problem left was with lucene.jar. After I copied the lucene.jar file from our 1.3.2 installation, my build ran clean. Wow.........that's very strange........... Anyway, thanks a lot for your help!!! Anyway, org.apache.log4j.* comes from the log4j.jar file in your [dspace]/lib directory. Checking that the file exists, and has the correct permissions, etc, would be a good place to start. cheers, Jim
