Hi Stuart,

Many thanks for looking into this for me (and determining that it wasn't
just me :-) ).

I've applied the suggested fix to my DEV server and have been testing it
- it definitely seems to have done the trick! I am now able to make
"onebox" elements only visible during workflow (which is what I was
trying to achieve).

Thanks again for your help, it is very much appreciated.

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Yes - it is a bug.

Could you try the following fix, and if it works (it seems to on my dev
box), then I'll submit it as a patch.

Either apply the attached patch, of find line 2429 in
[dspace-src]/src/org/dspace/app/webui/servlet/SubmitServlet.java

And replace:

===
// Just a single name
vals.add(request.getParameter(dcname).trim());
;
===

With:

===
// Just a single name
String value = request.getParameter(dcname); if (value != null) {
        value.trim();
}
vals.add(value);
===

You'll then need to rebuild and redeploy DSPace.

I hope this helps,

Stuart

Subject: [Dspace-tech] FW: visibility bug - is it just me?

Hi there,

I didn't get any responses to this question - can I assume from this
that no-one is actually using the <visibility>workflow</visibility>
attribute in input-forms.xml to hide a "onebox" or "textarea" field
during submission? - if that isn't the case and you are using this
feature successfully, perhaps you could let me know?

If no-one is actually doing this in production, is there any chance that
someone out there with a v1.4.1 dev server could try this out and
confirm whether or not it is a bug, or if it's just me :-)

Cheers,

Mike
