The postgresql.jar must be present, otherwise it would be a ClassDefNotFound 
exception.

ClassFormatError / unrecognized class file version typically means that the 
class is compiled for a more recent version of the JVM than it is being 
executed on.

This may not be surprising, as Jeffrey's new server is running on the GNU 
GCJ - are the other servers running a Sun JDK?
