Mark and all, The patch is treating us well, and the bugs mentioned in the patch ticket from a while back have all been resolved (I had sent the fixes off to Andrea, and I think they were resolved in the current patch even)
Looking back at our local CVS (where we store all our local changes), we've been running this patch since approx June of 2006. I do recall that we ran into another small bug back in December (which had slipped through the cracks). But, this was a pretty quick fix, and I could replicate the fix rather easily. Overall the patch seems pretty stable overall (especially with the few fixes we made, and will definitely give back to the community, once I get a chance :)). I would be in full support of trying to get it into DSpace 1.5, though it would require testing with Manakin, just to be sure that doesn't affect anything :) Andrea's patch really has no affect on my Configurable Submission work for Manakin (I don't recall any real overlaps offhand). However, it would require some modifications to the Manakin Administrative Aspect (to support the ability to assign Community administrators and potentially even Item administrators if there is an interest there). But, from what I can recall, the majority of the changes in Andrea's patch do not relate to the UI (they are more changes to the underlying permissions in DSpace). So most of it *should* play well with Manakin overall (though I admit I've never tested it). I would be glad to take part in helping to get it integrated into Manakin and tested in that arena, once I've completed my first version of the Configurable Submission for Manakin (which should be pushed out to the Manakin listserv sometime this week). I think many institutions would find value in the ability to provide ADMIN permissions at any level (Site/Community/Collection/Item). At UIUC we've been using this patch to actually allow very active Departments/Units to begin managing their own Communities and Collections. - Tim Mark Diggory wrote: > Tim, > > Sounds like the patch has been treating you well...
