I have tried searching the Dspace-Tech archives via the sourceforge site
but the response has been awfully slow with more timed-outs than actual
responses. So I will pose the question here but please pardon me if this
has been answered before.

I once created a community with 5-6 collections in it but now realize
that I would rather have these several collections consolidated into
one. They would still be part of the same community but in a new
comprehensive collection.

It occurred to me that I could simply change the collection_id field in
certain database tables. For instance I could update the collection2item
table to replace collection_id 1 thru 5 with collection_id 10 (the new
collection).

But I would have to change some other tables as well. The item table has
an 'owning_collection' field that would have to be updated.

My question: does anyone have a better idea? Or if this is the way to
proceed, can someone suggest a definitive list of fields/tables that
would have to be edited to make the switch cleanly and completely?

(Also . . . has anyone had similar experiences lately in searching the
Dspace-Tech archive via the sourceforge site?)

Thanks in advance as always,
