Hi,

I have done the DSpace upgradation from 1.4 to 1.4.2, the latest one.
I just followed the same steps as given the doc file to upgrade.
Is this enough or do i have to apply few patches with this.
Becos after upgrading i didn't find some of the new features like
Link to admin area in the navigation bar when logged in as an administrator.

If i have to apply the patches for this. can anybody explain how to do that.

So I want to know, just downloading the latest source and following the
upgrade steps given
in document is enough or do we have to apply patches.

As I am a recent user of DSpace, i don't know much abt applying patches.
Explain me that also.

one more doubt how can we come to know that we have upgraded to latest
version or
from the webui, how to know which DSpace version are we using.

Thanks and Regards,
Thiru...

i am using Dspace version 1.4.2, the latest one.
I just downloaded the source and followed the command for upgradation from
1.4 to 1.4.2
Is this enough to upgrade.
or do i have to apply some patches for this.
why becos one of the new features with the latest version is
there will be a link to admin area.
But i am not seeing like that.

Unfortunately, no. There is no specific sort key set when the
bitstreams are resolved in the database (i.e. Bundler.getBistreams())
so the ordering is always based on the database and can change
unpredictably as bitstreams are added/removed and when the database
upgraded. We've had discussions about assigning a sort key, but
nothing came out of this yet.

One possibility would be to add sorting into the taglibrary such that
the bitstreams were placed into an intermediate datastructure like a
TreeMap and key'ed on the column the user selected to sort on. Then a
configuration parameter could be added to control what the default
sort column was.

Hi

Just to let you know I have just successfully upgraded our small
experimental repository from DSpace 1.4.1 to DSpace 1.4.2

The process was very straightforward and I encountered no problems.

As usual, I have published details of the upgrade procedure I followed on
my blog at:

http://www.linuxtraining.org.uk/blogger.html#twentyfour

Please let me know if you spot any errors or omissions in the published
upgrade procedure.

Thanks to the DSpace development team yet again for an excellent product
:-)
