Hi,

Excuse me for reposting and crossposting:

We found out that we have several duplicate items in our dspace 1.3.2
archives. We have procedures in place to avoid that from happening, but
it happened anyway.
That said, we want to delete the duplicate items so only one exists.
There are several solutions to this problem, but we hope someone has
already found the best solution, or experience with the other solution
so we know what is the best solution.
What we want:
Say for example that we have two items with handles 1887/1 and 1887/2.
The items and the bitstreams are exact duplicates of each other. We want
to remove/withdraw one item (the item with handle 1887/1) BUT keep its
handle. So handles 1887/1 and 1887/2 must both be pointing to the same
item (the item that had handle 1887/2).
Maybe even better: if one follows 1887/1 the tombstone page is
displayed, but with a possibility to go to item 1887/2

What do you think, and have you any experiences that could help us?

regards,
Lucas
