Is it possible to configure DSpace so a fixed piece of text is inserted between the handle prefix and the object's individual ID? I'm thinking of something like this: hdl:123456789/myRepoName.3456 It looks fairly straightforward to change the creation by editing HandleManager, but will something else break?

This format is becoming common for scientific repositories. In a list of citations, it helps the reader quickly identify where the handle/ doi will lead. Some examples:

http://dx.doi.org/10.1594/PANGAEA.596352
