Scott Phillips pointed me to the problem, for which I am grateful! For the record, if you've got hardcoded CSS in your theme (I'm calling over to Somebody Else's Server for this one) and you don't need the CSS entries in sitemap.xmap, make sure that you do NOT remove the theme.path and theme.name parameters alongside the CSS entries.
