Yes we are using proxy to connect to Internet.
I have made the following changes in [apache-maven-2.0.9]/conf/settings.xml
<proxy>
<id>optional</id>
<active>true</active>
<protocol>http</protocol>
<username></username>
<password></password>
<host>iiscproxy1.serc.iisc.ernet.in</host>
<port>3128</port>
<nonProxyHosts>local.net,some.host.com</nonProxyHosts>
</proxy>
User name and password is NOT required.
