It deletes from the mapfile based on the handles in the file.

The syntax would be dsrun org.dspace.app.itemimport.ItemImport --delete
-e adminuserid --mapfile=mapfilenameusedforimport.
The same issue just happened here last night.

ItemImport has a delete option ( -d ). You need the map file
from the import or you can create a map file. -Don
