Hello,

The platform -

Sun SPARC v245
Solaris 10, zone/container
Apache2 v2.2.4, mod_jk
Postgresql 8.2.3
Dspace 1.4.2
Tomcat 6.0.13
Manakin 1.1
JDK 1.6.0_02

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

Apr 30, 2008 12:28:28 PM org.apache.catalina.connector.CoyoteAdapter service
SEVERE: An exception or error occurred in the container during the request
processing
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space

Our java options are "-Xmx512M -Xms64M -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8" - initial heap
size of 64m and a maximum heap size of 512m. There is 8GB of physical memory on
the server and about 12GB of swap available. A quick google search indicates
that there could be a 'garbage collection' problem. Some sites point the finger
at Tomcat, some at the JDK, and I was wondering if anyone else has had the
problem specifically with Dspace? According to the online manual, our java
options match the default recommendations.

Thanks for any help.
