Dear Dspace Tech list,

I believe we are experiencing a memory leak in our installed instance of
Dspace. We are running version 1.4.2 on red hat linux enterprise. Has anyone
experienced memory leaks with 1.4.2 on a high traffic Dspace instance? I
suspect this is a leak since we rebooted the machine our instance was
running on and the amount of memory used steadily increased to the total
amount of memory on the machine. This is especially vexing when the memory
used goes so high that our users experience internal memory errors when they
attempt to use some of the more memory intensive features in dspace. Another
curiosity is the number of postgres processes that dspace routines open. I
have noticed that even after I run a tomcat shutdown, all of the postgres
processes remain running. The postgres processes are running under the
command "postmaster" which I have assumed are database connections opened
from java code. I tested this by restarting tomcat, then immediately opening
administrator statistics in a browser. When I do this four new postmaster
processes open even though the other postmaster process still remain on. Can
anyone confirm this behavior or have any ideas as to how I might continue to
tackle this problem? Thank you.
