Hi, You can easily use XML in PHP5 to do this by extracting the values in the database and constructing an xml (DSpace compliant Dublin Core) file:
<item> <dcvalue element="identifier" qualifier="issn">1500-7502</dcvalue> <dcvalue element="language" qualifier="iso">eng</dcvalue> <dcvalue element="publisher" qualifier="">Test university</dcvalue> <dcvalue element="title" qualifier="">The pos....</dcvalue> <files>http://..... </files> </item> <item> ... </item> You can use the scripts written by Mika Stenberg to generate the DSpace Simple Archive from the xml file. I set up DSpace for one of my professors, because he would like to have a way of making all projects that he advised available online and searchable. We already have a complete database of all these projects, with all the details that will eventually become the metadata of the items, once I add them all to our DSpace. However, I was thinking that there may be a good way of simply importing from our projects database into one of the DSpace databases and have DSpace recognize the entries as new items... Is there a way of doing something like that? We have hundreds of projects and it would be very helpful if I could do something like this...
