Have you seen the upgrade document that comes with 1.5? [dspace-src]/dspace/docs/update.html or http://dspace.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/dspace/branches/dspace-1_5_x/dspace /docs/update.html?revision=2994 It breaks the upgrade process down into 18 easy steps.
