Hello Brett,
Yes,you are right. It does not exist, but you yourself must add it everywhere
you want in your configuration file.
Add something like this:
handle.canonical.prefix=http://localhost:8080/Dspace

Khosro.

Hi Khosro

Thanks for your response.

I cannot find handle.canonical.prefix" attribute in dspace.cfg
however there is the handle.prefix. This is not what I am after as this will
not
remove the automated URIs of the form http://hdl.handle.net/xxxx, it just adds
the
'xxxx'.

Regards

Hamish

Hello
Brett,
I think you can handle the URL you have mentioned with setting
"handle.canonical.prefix" attribute in dspace config
file.
like:
handle.canonical.prefix=http://localhost:8080/Dspace
Hope
this help.

Khosro.

Subject: [Dspace-tech] FW: U Handles and URLS in 1.5

Hi

I have had limited response about this so I am trying
again with more detail.

We currently use DSpace on a closed network without
Internet connectivity. We are planning the upgrade to 1.5. Issues with this
are:
        1. How will Maven work without access to the Internet. Is there a work
around to build the application e.g. create the maven repositories locally.
        2. When an item is created in DSpace an identifier is created with the
default handle prefix, http://hdl.handle.net/xxxx this was not of use to us as
we did not have the handle server running due to our closed environment and
therefore would not work. To work around this in earlier DSpace versions the
HandleManager.java was edited to create a link that would work ( prefix
changing to something like http://ourdspace:8080/dspace/xxxx instead of the
handle references). Version 1.5 things have changed in that I cannot find
HandleManager.java to edit and with the introduction of Maven I am confused on
how I would go about doing it if I did find the right java class.
Is there any advice out there on these issues or on
running DSpace in a closed network, it has worked for us up until now however a
first look it seems to me it assumes Internet connectivity.

Thanks

Hamish

Hi

Didnt receive any feedback on this one reposting it as
it is a show stopper to us.

Additionally is there a way to setup Handles
locally?

Thanks

Hamish

Hi

We are
using DSpace on the corproate Intranet and therefore do not use the handle
system. Before version 1.5 I edited HandleManger.java so that URLS did not come
back in handle form and therefore were usable. Now with 1.5 the code seems to
have changed and HandleManager.java does not exist. Is there alternate method
for fixing the URLS within a local network.

Thanks

Hamish
