Hello,

we are running DSpace 1.3.2 and want to migrate to a more
recent version. We have about 850 items in several
collections and communities in our repository.

Problem is, we modified the DSpace code to support
child naming authorities in the handle-server.
Back then, we thought we will need this feature and
it would be great. However it turned out that this
step rose more problems then it solved. So we decided
recently that we want to drop this patch.

Now, I have to remove the child naming part of the
handle URL for each item. I am not sure whether it
is best to change the database directly. I am not
sure whether I am done when stripping the child
part for each item or whether this will leave my
database in corrupted state. E.g.: 2339.3/851 ->
2339/851.

<http://stadtteilgeschichten.net/handle/2339.3/851>

If somebody who has got a good overview of the
whole db structure could reassure that I can go
this way, this would be really helpful.

I am close to sure that a very similar thing was
discussed on the list a year ago or two, but I am
absolutely uncapabable to find the thread, nor do
I find something that fits my needs in the docs
or on the wiki. The bin/dspace_migrate script
does not seem to be right thing for me.

Thanks for advice, Christian
