Gladys,

I highly recommend reviewing the directions provided in the
documentation provided in the distribution and on the website before
requesting assistance on how to build DSpace.

http://www.dspace.org/images/onepointfivedocs/dspacemanual_15_may.zip

One does not deploy the dspace-jspui-webapp directly, it is a "skinny
war" only containing the jsp and WEB-INF configuration, one uses the
"jspui" directory found in [dspace.dir]/webapps/jspui after the "ant
fresh_install" or "update" call which deployed it to [dspace.dir]
designated in yoru dspace.cfg. At this point it will show up in
[dspace.dir]/webapps/jspui

You should be able to do any of the following:

1.) copy the directory into you web containers webapp base.
2.) zip the directory into a war file and copy that to your webapp base.

or IMO the preferred method.

3.) point your servlet engine at [dspace.dir]/webapps as your
webapplication base.

the error is caused because that war is an "un-configured" version of
the code which does not know where your [dspace.dir] is located yet.

Sincerely,
Mark
