What version of Java are you running? Sounds like you might have an older
version. In order to see what version you're running, use the command, "java
-version" from the command line. We are running:

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_04-b12)

Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 10.0-b19, mixed mode)

with DSpace 1.4.2 and it works great.

The documentation for DSpace 1.5 says:

Java JDK 5 or later (standard SDK is fine, you don't need J2EE)

DSpace now required Java 5 or greater because of usage of new language
capabilities introduced in 5 that make coding easier and cleaner.

Java 5 or later can be downloaded from the following location:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Best,

Sue

Subject: [Dspace-tech] Error Dspace 1.5

Hi,

I have dspace 1.4.2, I try to install dspace 1.5 but i have this error message :

Unable to locate the Javac Compiler in:
C:\dspace\jdk\..\lib\tools.jar
Please ensure you are using JDK 1.4 or above and not JRE. In most cases you can
change the location of your Java installation by setting the JAVA_HOME
environment variable

Any idea??
