Hello Susan, if you mean as a configurable feature, this is only possible for the thumbnail afaik. You might set webui.browse.thumbnail.linkbehaviour = item to webui.browse.thumbnail.linkbehaviour = bitstream in the dspace.cfg.
Thus thumbnails in the lists will lead to the bitstream instead of the item display.
