Hi All Replying on my own post, just incase anyone else comes accross this problem. I didn't have the build.xml file in the C:\DSpace directory. Simple as that.
From the first question I asked, you could tell that i didn't have a clue! BUILD FAILED. . . Java Returned: 1 is a common question asked because it is the indicator for a variety of different problems. So it was of no help that I posted that in my question. So double thanks to Claudia for being able to help me with such a vague error discription. Anyone having the same problem should rather look at the lines preceding the BUILD FAILED message, or the DSpace log.
