Hi Dora, the Messages.properties is under [dspace-source]/dspace-api/src/main/resources Translations are fetched during the maven build process from google code http://code.google.com/p/dspace-sandbox/source/browse/#svn/modules/dspace-api-lang.
If you want to customize your properties file, place it in [dspace-source]/modules/jspui ... The translation hence will overlay the one in dspace-api. Note this only counts for the UI parts.
