As if there wasn't enough to do: this points out that the
configuration grammar has grown convoluted and fragile over time.  So
here's something else for us to debate: should at least some of the
DSpace configuration be recast in a format that is better capable of
expressing hierarchy, sets of attributes, sequences, etc. than the
simple Properties format?  (Yes, that's a euphemism for XML, until
someone comes along with a better suggestion.)
